Why a combined cupcake plan helps in late October

Late October and early November can be a crowded stretch in Singapore. Halloween falls on 31 October every year, and Deepavali moves with the calendar, so the two can land close together. For many households, offices and community groups, that means two very different celebrations sitting within a week or two of each other.

When that happens, the temptation is to treat them as two separate problems and solve each one at the last minute. A calmer approach is to plan both at once. One clear conversation about cupcakes for both dates saves you from chasing delivery slots during a busy weekend, and it makes it much easier to keep the two sets of designs distinct so nobody turns up to the Deepavali gathering holding a ghost.

It also helps the bakery. When you order customised cupcakes Singapore for more than one date, saying so from the first enquiry gives us room to schedule both batches sensibly rather than squeezing a second order in between existing ones.

Work backwards from each celebration date

The single most useful thing you can do is write down both event dates and times before you contact anyone. Everything else — quantity, design, flavours, delivery windows — hangs off that.

We ask for at least three days' notice on all orders. During busy periods, when order volumes pick up, giving more lead time than the minimum is wise, especially if your design involves character work, toppers or anything that requires extra preparation time.

Halloween

Halloween is fixed at 31 October, which makes it easy to plan around. Decide on your design and quantity at least a few days before the minimum notice period so you are not enquiring on the last possible day. If you are hosting on the weekend before Halloween, work backwards from that date instead of from the 31st itself.

If your celebration is for children and involves character or themed decorations, enquire earlier rather than later. Detailed decorating takes time, and a rushed brief rarely produces the result you pictured.

Deepavali

Deepavali changes each year and can fall close to Halloween, so confirm the actual gathering date before you order anything. It is surprisingly common to plan a Deepavali lunch for a date that turns out to be a week off from the festival itself.

If your Deepavali event falls close to Halloween, tell us both dates in the same enquiry and mention that the two orders need to look clearly different. That way the Halloween set can lean one way and the Deepavali set another, with no confusion over which box goes to which party.

Design directions to discuss with the bakery

Keep the brief practical. For each event, tell us:

  • the date and time of the gathering;
  • roughly how many guests you are expecting;
  • the colours you have in mind, or the colours of your decorations;
  • whether the crowd is mainly children, adults, or a mixed workplace group.

That last point matters more than it sounds. A design that delights a table of eight-year-olds may look out of place at an office lunch, and vice versa. Colours and motifs are easier to get right when we know who is eating.

Halloween design ideas

Possible ideas include pumpkins, bats, ghosts, cobwebs and black-and-orange buttercream. If the party is for younger children, a "cute scary" direction usually lands better than anything genuinely creepy — think friendly ghosts rather than anything that might upset a five-year-old at bedtime.

For more starting points, our post on spooky Halloween cupcake ideas covers a range of directions you can bring to the conversation. Designs are always discussed and confirmed with you rather than promised off a list, so treat any idea as a starting point.

Deepavali design ideas

For Deepavali, a useful starting point is warm, bright colours and festive motifs that suit the celebration. Rather than assuming a particular design is available, describe the mood and palette you have in mind and we will tell you what is possible for your date.

Our Deepavali cupcakes in Singapore post goes into colours, flavours and ordering considerations in more detail, and is a good read before you send your enquiry.

Choosing flavours and sizes for two different events

Our cupcakes come in three flavours: vanilla, coffee and red velvet. That is a small enough range to decide quickly, but broad enough to split across two events if you want them to feel different. You could, for example, keep one flavour for the children's table and mix the other two for the adult gathering.

Sizes are regular, mini and jumbo. Each suits a different kind of event:

  • Mini cupcakes work well on a mixed dessert table where people are grazing and trying several things.
  • Regular cupcakes are easier for younger children to hold and less fiddly to hand out.
  • Jumbo cupcakes make more of a centrepiece, useful if the cupcakes are standing in for a cake.

If you are weighing up the smaller size, our page on mini cupcakes Singapore covers how they work in practice.

Sets come in 6, 8, 12 or 25. Because two events rarely have the same headcount, expect to make two separate set decisions rather than doubling one number. A 25-piece set for the office Halloween lunch and a 12-piece set for a family Deepavali dinner is a perfectly normal combination.

Delivery and collection around busy weekends

We deliver same-day by Grab Express, or you can collect from the Ang Mo Kio / Thomson area. We are open Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

That said, a busy weekend with two celebrations on it deserves a little forethought. If both events fall on the same weekend, think about which set you need first and which can arrive later in the day. If you are collecting, build in time for traffic and for the handover itself — it is always the ten minutes you did not budget for that causes the rush.

Delivery timing should be part of your first enquiry, not an afterthought once everything else is settled. Tell us the window you need for each date, and we will let you know what can be arranged. Full details are on our delivery and ordering information page.

What to include in your enquiry

You can reach us through the enquiry form or by WhatsApp or phone on +65 8175 7488. One clear message covering both celebrations is better than two half-finished ones sent a week apart.

Include the following:

  1. the date and time of each event;
  2. the guest count for each event;
  3. design or colour ideas for each, and a note that they should look distinct;
  4. your size preference — regular, mini or jumbo — and the set size;
  5. your preferred delivery window or collection time for each date;
  6. any dietary questions from you or your guests.

On dietary matters, so you can answer guests accurately: our cupcakes contain egg and dairy. They are not halal certified, but they contain no pork, lard or alcohol. If you have guests with specific requirements, mention it in the enquiry and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do rather than leave you guessing.

Two celebrations in one fortnight does not have to mean two rounds of stress. Send one clear enquiry with both dates and we will take it from there.
