Planning Deepavali cupcakes for your celebration

Deepavali celebrations in Singapore usually mean a full house, plenty of visiting, and a table that stays busy from morning until late. Alongside the savouries and sweets, many families like to have something small and individual that guests can pick up without a plate or a fork. Cupcakes suit this well: each one is already portioned, they sit neatly on a dessert table, and they travel easily if you are visiting relatives rather than hosting.

If you are looking for customised cupcakes Singapore for a Deepavali party, it helps to think about your guest list, preferred colours and collection or delivery timing before you enquire. A little planning up front means the design brief you send is clear, and the answer you get back is useful rather than a long back-and-forth.

Dates matter too. Check the official Singapore public holiday calendar for the confirmed Deepavali date; in 2026 it is expected in early November. Once your date is set, everything else — quantity, colours, delivery slot — becomes much easier to decide.

Choosing Deepavali-inspired designs and colours

Deepavali is a festival of light, and the colour palette that comes with it is warm and rich rather than pastel. If you are choosing a direction for your cupcakes, these are the shades that tend to read as festive on a dessert table:

  • Deep red and maroon — classic, strong, and good for a table that already has a lot going on
  • Orange and gold — the most obviously Deepavali-leaning combination
  • Pink and fuchsia — softer, and popular when the celebration includes children
  • Bright jewel tones — emerald, sapphire, purple — for a richer, more dramatic look

Beyond colour, you may want some decorative motif in mind. Lamps and diyas, oil lamp shapes, rangoli-inspired swirls, flower motifs, or simply a festive greeting piped on top are all ideas you can raise when you enquire. It is worth keeping the request clear and simple rather than piling on many elements at once: hand-decorated cupcakes are small, and a couple of well-chosen details usually look better than a crowded design.

You can see the style of work we do for this festival on our Deepavali themed cupcakes page. If your celebration overlaps with another festival or you want something that works across occasions, our wider range of festival-themed cupcakes covers Hari Raya, Chinese New Year and Deepavali together.

One honest note: not every design idea translates perfectly to a small cupcake, and colours can look different on icing than they do on a screen. That is why we would rather discuss your idea than promise a specific motif upfront. Send a description, a rough sketch, or a reference photo, and we will tell you what is workable.

Picking the right size and set

Cupcakes come in three sizes — regular, mini and jumbo — and the choice usually comes down to how you plan to serve them.

  • Mini cupcakes work well on a mixed dessert table where guests are grazing across many sweets. They are also handy for larger groups, because people can take one or two without feeling they have committed to a full dessert.
  • Regular cupcakes are the straightforward option if the cupcake is the dessert rather than one item among many. One per guest is easy to plan for.
  • Jumbo cupcakes give you more of a centrepiece feel. If you want something that anchors the table rather than just filling a corner, a smaller number of jumbo cupcakes can do that job.

Set sizes are 6, 8, 12 or 25. Sixes and eights suit a small family gathering or a gift; twelves are the common choice for a modest party; twenty-fives are useful when the whole extended family is coming through the door over the course of a day. If you are unsure, think about how many people will actually eat a cupcake rather than how many will visit — someone dropping by for twenty minutes for a drink rarely takes one.

A note on mixing sizes

Some hosts like to combine sizes, for example a set of jumbo cupcakes as a focal point with minis around them for guests. This is fine to ask about, but do mention it clearly in your enquiry so quantities and timing can be checked properly.

Matching the cupcake flavours

There are three flavours to choose from: vanilla, coffee and red velvet. Each suits a Deepavali table in a different way.

  • Vanilla is the safe crowd-pleaser. It is the flavour that almost everyone will eat, including children and older guests who prefer nothing too strong. If you are ordering one flavour for a mixed group, this is usually the sensible default.
  • Coffee tends to go down well with adult guests, and it holds its own next to strong festive sweets rather than getting lost. If your gathering is mostly grown-ups, it is worth considering.
  • Red velvet gives you a deeper, more festive look — the colour alone reads as celebratory, which is useful if you are keeping the decoration relatively simple.

Do bear two things in mind when you plan. First, our cupcakes contain egg and dairy. Second, they are not halal certified. They do not contain pork, lard or alcohol. If you are serving guests with specific dietary requirements, it is best to be upfront about this before you order so you can plan accordingly.

Ordering timeline, delivery and collection

We need at least three days' notice for an order. Festive periods can be busy, so it is sensible to enquire earlier than the minimum. If your celebration is on a Saturday or Sunday, getting your enquiry in during the week before gives more room to sort out design details and timing.

Full details are on our delivery and ordering page. In short: same-day delivery is by Grab Express, or you can self collect in the Ang Mo Kio / Thomson area. Delivery works well if you are hosting and would rather not add a trip to your day. Self collection suits anyone already moving around the Thomson or Ang Mo Kio area, and it means you can pick a time that fits your own schedule.

We are open Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, so there is a reasonable window for either option. For a Deepavali gathering, it is worth deciding which you prefer before you enquire, because it affects what we can confirm back to you.

What to have ready before you write

  1. Your celebration date, and the date you would like the cupcakes
  2. How many people you are expecting, and which set size you have in mind
  3. Size — mini, regular or jumbo
  4. Flavour or flavours
  5. Your colour and design direction, with any reference you have
  6. Whether you want delivery or self collection

Send your Deepavali enquiry

Once you have those details, the rest is quick. Share your date, set size, design brief and preferred delivery or collection method, and we will come back to you with what is possible. You can send an enquiry through the form on our contact page, or message or call us on WhatsApp at +65 8175 7488 if that is easier.

If you are still deciding on colours or working out how many cupcakes your guest list actually needs, say so in your message. It is a normal part of planning a festive order, and it is easier to sort out early than to change later. We look forward to helping you put something together for your Deepavali table this year.
